I needed some photos of hands a while ago, so took these:
Which reminded me of my favourite instructional video:
Which reminded me of an awesome safety video instructional mashup:
Which uses footage from archive.org - which is where I first came across Cab Calloway (animated by the incredible Fleischer Brothers):
Who also appeared in the Muppets:
As did Buddy Rich:
Playing beside Animal, who was reputedly based on Keith Moon:
Who featured on Jeff Beck's song Beck's Bolero:
Who shares a section on my iPod with this Beck:
Who recorded a song about hands.

Reactive vertebrae is a biomimetic series of mehanical sculptures which react to the atmospheric conditions around them. A series of dangling, spine-like forms inhabit an area, and, like a flower, position themselves to follow the sun’s movements over the course of a day. Prototypes mimic a variety of animal mechanisms, such as woodlice and snakes.Design + video: Ollie PalmerMusic: Mirror Fun by Lucky Dragon

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, do come along to the Bartlett Summer Show this year. Colloquially known as Bartfest, it's a huge celebration of the work that Bartlett students do, with over 450 students showing innovative drawings, models, devices, texts, animations and installations. I've seen the Unit 14 work up-close and can verify that there's a cracking selection this year.
